Realistic Breast Augmentation Recovery

As plastic surgeons, we have a responsibility to establish realistic expectations for the men and women we treat. We would be remiss if we made exaggerated claims about results or about recovery from surgery. That’s why—for all of my procedures, including breast augmentation—I make sure my patients know exactly what to expect.

There’s been a lot of talk about 24-hour or rapid recovery from breast enlargement. In my opinion, it’s not entirely responsible to make this claim; everyone heals differently, and that could easily change the nature and duration of recovery. I look at each woman I see for breast augmentation as completely unique, and each treatment plan I develop is custom-tailored as a result.

While I won’t guarantee a recovery time frame, I am committed to making recovery as comfortable and quick as possible.

What affects breast augmentation recovery?

One of the biggest factors in determining the quality and duration of recovery is what happens during surgery itself. That’s why I use advanced techniques, board-certified anesthesiologists, and certified operating facilities. In fact, all of my breast surgeries are performed at the Paradise Valley Cosmetic Surgery Center, my own outpatient surgery center. Because I am responsible for this facility, I know the safety standards required of the excellent nurses and anesthesiologists who work there.

I also provide very clear post-surgical guidelines and support so that women feel empowered to make the most of their recovery. By arming them with information and by being available, I’m providing peace of mind. Feeling relaxed and confident can do wonders to speed recovery.

Why Expectations Matter

Proper planning is essential for a complete and comfortable recovery from breast enhancement. I tell my patients that they need to take enough time off from work so that they’re not going back to the office before their recovery is complete.
