This patient is a 23 year old female who came to my Phoenix, Arizona area medical office with interest in breast reduction surgery. This patient reported multiple symptoms from her large breasts including neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, bra strap grooving, difficulty with sports and trouble finding clothes that fit. I felt she would be an excellent candidate for breast reduction surgery. I explained that the surgery would both help her physically, and improve her appearance and proportion. She wished to go from an E-cup to a moderate D-cup size.
In surgery, I performed a wise pattern (anchor scar) breast reduction leaving the nipple/areolas attached to the underlying breast tissue. Due to preoperative asymmetry, I removed 470 grams from the right breast and 300 grams from the left breast to get the best match.
After surgery, the patient was thrilled with her new appearance and was also amazed at how good she felt physically. Her symptoms were resolved and she was extremely happy with the symmetry and proper proportion of her breasts.
