This patient is a 36 year old male from Tempe, Arizona who presented to my Scottsdale, Arizona area medical practice with interest in correction of his gynecomastia. This patient was in very good shape, but felt that there was excess fullness in his lower chest that did not fit with his overall well-defined physique.
On examination, I felt that this patient had a combination of excess fat and glandular tissue (firm, rubbery breast tissue) primarily in the lower chest. I recommended a combination of power-assisted liposuction and direct glandular tissue removal through the lower areolar borders.
In surgery I removed approximately 250cc of fat from each side of the chest in addition to removing rubbery glandular tissue from behind the areolas. This gave the patient a significant improvement in his chest contour.
After surgery, the patient had a significant flattening of the lower chest which gave him a more masculine appearance and better definition to his pectoralis muscles. He was very happy with the overall improvement.
