This patient is a 52 year old male from the Scottsdale, Arizona area who presented to my Paradise Valley, Arizona area medical practice with interest in reshaping his earlobes. Specifically, this patient felt that his elongated, "droopy" earlobes gave him a more aged appearance.
I felt that an earlobe reduction with direct tissue removal and beveling of the skin edge to hide the scars behind the lobes would give this patient the best overall result. In the preoperative photos, a marking pen was used to demonstrate to the patient the approximate final anticipated earlobe contour.
The surgery was performed using local anesthetic only (lidocaine) and the patient recovered with minimal discomfort. Seen less than 2 weeks after surgery in the postoperative photos, he was already extremely pleased with his new, natural appearance.
