BOTOX Cosmetic & Dysport®
Every time you smile, frown, squint, or raise your eyebrows, you contract a series of facial muscles. Over time, these muscle contractions form lines and wrinkles in the skin, called dynamic wrinkles. BOTOX and Dysport are FDA-approved injectable treatments that correct dynamic wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause them.
BOTOX and Dysport are ideal for several treatment areas:
- Crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes
- Horizontal forehead creases
- Vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
BOTOX or Dysport injections at the outer corners of the eyebrows can also provide a subtle, nonsurgical brow lift. They can also enhance and maintain the results of facial rejuvenation procedures, such as facelift and eyelid surgery.
How Do They Work?
BOTOX and Dysport are derived from a protein that inhibits nerve impulses. When injected into a specific area, it blocks nerve signals that cause the muscles in that area to contract. Relaxed muscles allow the facial skin to gradually smooth out, softening the wrinkles.
What to Expect
Our nurse injector performs BOTOX and Dysport treatments by making quick injections into precisely placed areas of the face with a tiny needle. Because of MK's extensive training and experience, patients usually feel little to no discomfort during these treatments and are ready to go about their day as normal after a treatment session.
There is one caveat to that: We recommend postponing vigorous exercise until the day after treatment for optimal results.
The results of BOTOX treatments emerge over the course of about a week and generally last 3 to 4 months. Dysport results may appear a bit earlier — within 2 to 3 days of treatment — and last about as long.
We carry many popular injectable fillers, including JUVÉDERM® XC, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®, Restylane®, Sculptra®, and BELOTERO BALANCE®. As a certified specialist, our nurse injector MK works with you to understand your ultimate goals and choose the filler or combination of fillers that will create those results.
- Smoothing away lines and wrinkles
- Filling in facial folds around the mouth
- Restoring or adding volume to the cheeks and temples, and under the eyes
- Plumping up thin lips, defining lip borders, and filling in lip lines
Your filler treatment may include BOTOX or Dysport injections for more complete rejuvenation.
How Do They Work?
Many fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a hydrating agent that occurs naturally in healthy skin. The amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin decreases as you age, and facial tissue shrinks and descends, leading to hollowing around the eyes and on the cheeks. Dermal fillers replace volume within the skin to fill out wrinkles and volume lost beneath the skin due to facial aging.
What to Expect
Dermal fillers go just beneath the skin, using a very thin needle. Most fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medication, to minimize any discomfort. Treatments are typically complete in 30 minutes and do not require any significant downtime afterwards.
Results appear immediately and last for 6 to 12 months or longer, depending on the specifics of your dermal filler treatment. Regularly scheduled treatments can help maintain improvements indefinitely.
